U.S. cites China, Myanmar, Ethiopia in genocide report

The US government has continued to hold its position on allegations that China is responsible for genocide and repression against Uighur Muslims and other minority communities in Xinjiang province.

The annual report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was read on Monday in the US Congress, states that the United States reiterates that the Chinese government is responsible for genocide and crimes against humanity in the Uighur community in the northwestern Chinese province.

Elie Wiesel's report, which opposes genocide and atrocities, states that crimes against humanity include arrests, torture, and forced labor so that they do not reproduce. The report called on the US government to explain the steps it is taking to prevent global violence and to ensure that it continues to defend human rights around the world.

Biden follows in the footsteps of his predecessors

According to the report, President Joe Biden has followed in the footsteps of his predecessors in imposing sanctions on countries alleged to be involved in crimes against humanity. The United States continues to believe that China's actions against the Uighur community are part of the genocide.

The report noted that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has repeatedly insisted that previous governments have claimed that the People's Republic of China is responsible for genocide and crimes against humanity in the Uighur people. China has continued to deny allegations of detention at facilities in Xinjiang province.

In addition, the report warns that Eritrea, Ethiopia, Myanmar, and South Sudan are likely to face further sanctions by conducting operations to exterminate certain communities, by participating in conflicts between neighboring nations, or within their own countries. The results were announced earlier by the former US government of Donald Trump, saying Myanmar was involved in an operation to exterminate the Rohingya Muslim community in Rakhine state.

The White House has said it will continue to work with its allies to pressure Myanmar's military government to end all forms of violence, including repression of anti-revolutionary activists in February, as well as violence against the Rohingya community.

Tigray community annihilation operation

For its part, Ethiopia and Eritrea are linked to genocide against rivals in the province of Tigray. In March Blinken told the US Congress that the actions taking place in Tigray were tantamount to an operation to destroy the Tigray community.

South Sudan is cited in the report due to deteriorating security and the presence of genocide, sexual violence, and the use of food as a weapon of war. The report calls for all those responsible for human rights abuses in South Sudan to be brought to justice.

In addition, the report said the Biden government would continue to support efforts to bring to justice the militants of the so-called Islamic State (IS) group due to the atrocities committed against minorities in Iraq and Syria. It has also reiterated its US intention to hold Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and his government accountable for their repression.
