US President Joe Biden has said he does not regret his decision to withdraw troops from Afghanistan, as the Taliban continues to struggle.
Mr. Biden has called on Afghan leaders to be united and fight for their country.
Violence is rampant in the country at the moment as US forces that have been operating for 20 years are leaving.
The Taliban has taken eight of the country's 34 major cities and threatened other cities.
Speaking to White House reporters on Tuesday, Mr. Biden said the United States was living up to its promise to Afghanistan, such as air support, military pay, and food and supplies for the military.
But he said: "They have to fight for themselves."
More than 1,000 civilians have been killed in clashes between the Taliban and government forces in the past month, according to the United Nations.
With an agency for a children's organization, Unicef noted this week that child killings are increasing daily.
