Covid viruses have adversely affected health workers and may kill between 80,000 and 180,000, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.
Health care workers must be given priority for vaccinations, WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said
The deaths occurred between January 2020 and May this year.
Earlier, another senior WHO official warned that the lack of vaccines could see the epidemic continue until next year.
There are approximately 135 million health care workers worldwide.
"Statistics from 119 countries show that on average, two out of five health care workers worldwide have been fully immunized," Dr. Tedros said.
