Two South African ministers and a deputy minister have been rescued after being abducted by former soldiers involved in a war against white supremacy.
Those ex-soldiers want to be compensated for their role.
Former ANC liberation fighters want to be paid $ 280,000 (£ 203,000) for housing and health insurance for their families.
They met with the minister in the office of president Mondli Gungubele, defense minister Thandi Modise and his deputy Thabang Makwetla to discuss their demands at a hotel in Pretoria last night.
Government officials were abducted after the talks failed. Later, more than 50 people were arrested after attempts to negotiate a failed release of hostages.
A special unit whose members wear military uniforms and have received training to deal with kidnappings had to be called up.
Mr. Gungubele said the incident was illegal.
Earlier, these former soldiers said they felt the ANC had betrayed them because they had never been compensated for participating in the fight against the apartheid government.
However, the soldiers are paid a monthly pension.
Earlier this week the group marched outside ANC offices.
