A major fire has erupted in mountainous areas in Kabylie province, where 25 soldiers have died while fighting to extinguish the blaze.
Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune has sent condolences to the families of the victims, saying troops have been able to rescue more than 100 people from the blaze.
The interior minister suspects that foresters are responsible for the fire.
