Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has asked the United Nations to remove the patent on the production of the Covid 19 vaccine so that more nations can produce it and give it to its citizens.
The aim is to ensure that everyone is successful in tackling the disease because its spread has been slower than the virus itself.
She made the remarks yesterday while addressing the UN General Assembly, urging the United Nations to increase cooperation in dealing with international disasters.
"Our request is that the patent to develop the Vaccine-19 vaccine be issued to developing countries so that we can combat this dangerous epidemic, this is not only an important step in ending this epidemic but also the right thing to do to save the world.
"When the Vaccine-19 vaccine was being researched around the world and later developed by many we were hopeful that this would mean a lot to all of us, we have come to realize that the virus is spreading faster than the development and distribution of the vaccine," said President Samia.
