Macron and Biden agree to resolve the submarine dispute

US President Joe Biden and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron have held talks to seek a compromise following a dispute over submarine manufacturing agreements. The two presidents agreed in a telephone conversation, intensifying consultations between their governments, according to a joint statement.

This step aims to create an environment for the restoration of faith, as well as to create shared goals. The joint statement said Biden and Macron would meet in Europe in late October.

The French ambassador to the United States is also expected to return to Washington next week, after the Paris government repatriated him last week, following outrage over the sudden establishment of a joint venture between the United States, Britain, and Australia, which involved the United States assisting Australia nuclear, a move that led to the cancellation of the 30 billion euro agreement that Australia had reached with France in 2016 for the construction of diesel and electric submarines.
