The pharmaceutical company Pfizer has stated that its COVID-19 vaccines are effective for children between the ages of five and 11. The company has said it will seek US permission to vaccinate the group, a key step towards starting vaccinations.
The vaccine developed by Pfizer and its German partner, BioNTech is already being offered to children 12 years and older. But with children returning to school and the rising prevalence of delta virus, it is increasing the prevalence of children and many parents are waiting for vaccinations for their young children.
Meanwhile, India will resume the export of coronavirus vaccines starting next October, five months after the moratorium on the exercise as it battles the worst wave of infections. India's pharmaceutical company was the largest exporter of vaccines through the global COVAX program to purchase and distribute free vaccines to the world's poorest countries.
