US President Joe Biden has backed Cuban protests and praised thousands of citizens who have protested against food shortages and high commodity prices in this time of the Coronavirus epidemic.
The anti-Cuban protests are said to be the largest ever witnessed in recent years.
"The United States stands with the Cuban people who are fighting for their basic rights and we call on the Cuban government to refrain from using force against them or to silence the voice of the Cuban people," Biden said.
Biden's statement echoed the stance of his predecessor in the Democratic Party, Barack Obama, who during his tenure sought to reduce tensions between the United States and Cuba as well as ease the country's sanctions.
