Singapore has announced this today a major step forward after providing comprehensive coverage of Covid-19 to 80 percent of its population and providing more opportunities to open its economic activities.
The country's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said the country wants to maintain its status as a global trade hub, even as it strengthens foreign workers' policies and addresses local concerns over employment competition.
Lee's government has been strengthening foreign workers' policies for several years while taking steps to promote domestic employment, including increasing wages by issuing work permits.
According to government statistics, less than 30 percent of Singapore's 5.7 million residents are foreign workers from 10 percent in 1990.
