Japan identifies black cells within the Moderna vaccine

Japan has banned the use of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine after abnormal particles were found in a single bottle of the vaccine.

One pharmacist saw several black particles in a single bottle of the vaccine in Kanagawa State, according to authorities.

Another 3,790 people had already received the vaccine.

And now the rest of the vaccine has been banned from being used again.

The move comes less than a week after Japan suspended the use of 1.63 million doses of the Moderna vaccine due to pollution.

The pharmacist found black particles while checking if there was anything unusual in the vaccine before use.

In addition, the vaccine distributor has collected the suspected contaminants.

Media reports, however, say there is no evidence so far of any health risks that could be caused by contaminated vaccines.

The Takeda drug store, which sells and distributes the vaccine in Japan, was only last week banning the use of three groups of vaccines after the discovery of "particles" in several doses of a group of 560,000 bottles.

The Spanish pharmaceutical company Rovi, which puts the vaccine in bottles, said in a statement that the manufacturing process in Spain could be the cause of it, adding that it was conducting research.

On Tuesday, Japan's health minister said such allegations in the southern province of Okinawa stemmed from injecting improper injection into vaccinated bottles.

Japan is battling a high rate of coronavirus infection while hosting the Paralympic Games.

Immunization has been slow, with more than 40 percent of Japanese people being fully immunized with nearly 50 percent receiving a single dose.
