A Colombian health official has said a new type of coronavirus, popularly known as "Mu", discovered in January, is the most widespread in the country and is responsible for the worst corona epidemic.
The health officer, Marcela Mercado, told a local radio station that the "Mu" virus was responsible for a third-degree outbreak of the virus between April and June.
During this period, with about 700 deaths each day, about two-thirds of the tests performed on the dead showed that they were infected with the Mu virus. On Tuesday, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Mu virus, with the Scientific name B.1.621, an important virus.
The WHO said the virus had mutations that highlighted the risk of overcoming the power of the vaccine and that further research was needed to understand it.
